The Incans were masters of repopulation, and would often move ten thousand souls here or there in the countryside, replacing each as best befits him. This is to say, a fisherman would be replaced near another sea, a farmer near another field, a hunter near another forest, and a miner near another mine. In this way they consumed new lands and languages. When an Incan prince died, all his palaces save one would be sealed up. That remaining palace would be kept in perpetuity in the manner he preferred.
